IV Conscious Sedation
For periodontal surgery performed under intravenous or IV conscious sedation Dr. Sharma will administer sedative medications via an IV, meaning you will feel completely calm and relaxed during the procedure—and often times will not be able to remember anything about the procedure after it is done. You will be in a “twilight” state where you’re able to respond to requests and answer questions—for example, you will be able to move your head as needed, or will be able to verbally confirm that you’re not feeling any pain—but will be completely relaxed. Should you elect to receive IV conscious sedation, you will want to make plans to have a friend or family member drive you home, and you will want to hold off on activities until the next day when the anesthesia is completely out of your system.
